ACUSON
Acuson is a large manufacturer and service provider of diagnostic medical ultrasound systems that generate, display, archive and retrieve ultrasound images. The company was founded in 1979 by Sam Maslak, Rob Younge, and Amin Hanafy; and pioneered many aspects related to medical ultrasound, most significantly the first fully computerized ultrasound system. Acuson introduced groundbreaking ultra sound technologies by creating The Acuson 128 and many other products during its years of existence. In 2000, Acuson was acquired by Siemens Medical Engineering group for approximately $700 million after which Acuson Corporation ceased to exist. Siemens continues to use the Acuson brand name and continues to develop diagnostic ultrasound applications and hardware products.
