AFRICAN LEGACY OF YOUNG GENERATION (ALYG)

African legacy of young generation (ALYG) is a registered non-profit charity organization founded in 2017 by youth in Africa concerned about the well-being of children and youth in communities around Africa. African legacy of young generation started in 2017 by senior six vacists who wanted to use their vacation time to make their communities better. The team was entirely made up of youth who came from different countries of Africa but were studying in Uganda. Most of these were teenagers, with ... no experience in organizational activities, had no money but with a passion to see transformed communities by responding to the challenges that were facing their communities by designing solutions. Being young themselves they understood the challenges faced by children and young adults, this explains why their interest was in young generation. Most of the challenges that were faced by young generation were affecting them also. Some were orphans, others refugees due to wars that were affecting their countries, some grow up in babies homes and they really understood the challenges people in orphanages and babies home face. These young people realized that talking about the problem isn’t solving much, and also complaining about it did not take the problem away, for this reason they decided to unite together in being part of the solution. We are all United by one vision to “empowering and nurturing young generation for the better tomorrow” this means; Children and youth have a right to; education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood and protection from all forms of violence. We would like to see a vibrant, innovative generation of youths in our communities, with access to all necessary resources to lead a successful life All members of the organization joined different universities from Uganda and Kenya, with determination to use their experiences, a network of concerned friends, and education as a tool to acquire knowledge that will play a key role in solving the problems affecting communities. We believe that we can be part of a solution to issues affecting children and youth in the world. Like that saying goes “it takes a community to raise a child”, we to believe, that to achieve this amazing vision, we need to join hands with individuals, organizations, communities, governments, who will play a key role.More
