AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE
American Association For The Advancement Of Science (AAAS) is an international non-profit organization focused on developing and supporting scientific education, science outreach, promoting cooperation among scientists, defending scientific freedom, and encouraging scientific responsibility. AAAS publishes four journals: Science, Science Signaling, Science Translational Medicine, and Science Advances. AAAS’s education enhancement programs include Education and Human Resources: a program t... hat helps science students and professionals to build bridges to careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; Project 2061: a long-term research and development initiative focused on making all Americans literate in science, mathematics, and technology before Halley’s comet returns in 2061; STEM Volunteer Program: a program that places retired science professionals in K-12 classrooms to foster STEM literacy in students and motivate them to pursue STEM careers; and Science NetLinks: a website that offers standards-based lesson plans, online tools, special resource collections, and after-school activities for K-12 teachers, students, and families. Science Diplomacy, Science & Diplomacy, and Science, Technology & Security Policy are its global outreach programs. AAAS conducts press and public engagement programs to make science and technology information accessible to everyone. It provides objective analysis to decision makers and helps experts contribute to policy-making.
