Athletus is a social network. Specifically, Athletus is a location-based online fitness community for individuals seeking competition and camaraderie. The location-based feature maps out, in real-time, which pickup sports are occurring where, and which classes are being offered in the neighborhood yoga, Pilates, or fitness studios. They trend users’ activities allowing us to provide suggestions for their users to connect and challenge others with similar activities of interest. The ranking sys... tem provides a game-ification element, continued replay value, and an opportunity to hone that winning mentality. And of course, community building is as important to their user experience as is the physical activity, thus, the newsfeed is comprised of user-curated posts regarding fitness, healthy-eating recipes, athletics news, and sample workouts to completely immerse their users in a healthy-living mindset. Athletus’s mission is to become the go-to hub for all things healthy living—to establish an online presence for like-minded individuals to engage, share, and observe the accomplishments of what determination, perseverance, and self-discipline can lead to.
