Balena is a materials science company developing compostable and biodegradable thermoplastic materials. The company aims to create a circular model for consumer products in order to ensure sustainable production and consumption of materials, with an initial focus on the fashion industry. In response to millions of garments being burnt or dumped into landfills every year, polluting the earth and the oceans with dangerous microplastics that will not biodegrade for hundreds of years, Balena is focused on helping global fashion brands find new, sustainable solutions to handle their products’ end of life.
