The company was founded in 1964 in order to supply Joseph Berkmann’s group of restaurants with Bordeaux, Burgundy an... d Beaujolais – this last being so successful that Berkmann was awarded the exclusive agency for Georges Duboeuf in 1972. Duboeuf has since been joined by an all-star cast of agency suppliers, and the portfolio has expanded to over 1,000 wines and spirits from all around the world. In 1982, the restaurants were sold, and the wine business was set on the path of expansion. While the focus was initially on London, 1987 saw the acquisition of Pagendam Pratt in Yorkshire, giving the north of England access to our portfolio without sacrificing the benefits of local service. This has proved a successful model, with Chippenham in Wiltshire being established in 1997 and Churchill Vintners in Birmingham being added in 2007. As a family-owned company with roots in the restaurant trade, our goal remains the same as it always has been: to supply wines of outstanding character and typicity that are made to be drunk with food.
