Bilimetrix, as spin-off of the University of Trieste and partnering with the Italian liver Foundation, an institution of excellence for liver diseases including jaundice, can leverage on un... ique technical expertise and clinical knowledge. In the short term, the company aims to bring to the international market Bilistick, a low cost point of care diagnostic system for determining the concentration of plasma bilirubin level in newborns. The system is the only one using a test strip for rapid determination of the total bilirubin level in the blood. Performance of the assay requires minimal training; it can be used by health care workers in hospital, clinics, and field settings.
