CTA is a not-for-profit, member-based organization consisting of 31 clinical sites and 3 research institutes across Australia and New Zealand. Our strength lies in the collective medical and intellectual expertise of our members and the co-ordination of their resources. The organization arose out of the Centre for Developmental Cancer Therapies (CDCT), which was formed in 1993 by a small group of medical oncologists who wanted to conduct clinical trials with cytokines developed by Professor Don Metcalf and his colleagues at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. We were incorporated in 2003 as a public company limited by guarantee and have continued to expand during this period. Our original expertise in the field of oncology has now expanded to include all therapeutic areas of disease.
