CANTON CITY SCHOOLS ADULT COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Canton City Schools offers an Adult Community Education program for residents of Ohio’s Stark County. Canton offers several preparation classes for adults seeking their GED. The Alliance program, for example, has four math classes, two reading courses, and a writing course. Their Bridges to College Transitions Class is directed at individuals who have received their high school diploma or GED, but are in need of some help in reading and/or math in order to enter a college or technical school... . Bilingual students can seek help with their English speaking, writing and reading skills by utilizing Canton’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. These classes are broken up into three tiers, so students can find the perfect class for them depending on their level ranging from those that are unfamiliar with English to those that need a little help fine-tuning their grammar and syntax. For admissions at Canton, students must be over the age of 18 and reside in Stark County. Prospective students must attend registration, at which they will take an assessment in order to determine which courses are right for them. Most classes are free and open to anyone seeking an education. Canton also offers a Practical Nurse program, Adult Career and Technical Education program, and an Adult High School program, all of which require students to pay for tuition and complete preselected courses.More
