Four years ago, a group of young mexican entrepreneurs decided to use the resources from nature to create custom products. The living, resistant, and elastic qualities of wood were recognized as a perfect material to create custom sunglasses. They only use certified wood from Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica, and the finest optics in the world; Carl Zeiss. They combine excellent design and craftsmanship with a strong commitment to the preservation of the environment through social responsibility... and sustainable production. Cardinal is a Mexican company interested in the personalization of each pair of sunglasses. Each piece represents the artisan work of carefully crafted “teca (teak)” and “nogal (walnut)”. All of their wood is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). Each pairs’ fabrication requires at least five days in the workshop. The craftsman cuts more than 10 pieces from the wood, and then pastes and presses them together. The stainless steel hinges are put in place before sanding, cleaning, and oiling the final product. The result is a completely unique piece for every single buyer.
