Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), a private not-for-profit corporation, promotes the growth and development of public media in communities throughout America. The corporation provides funding for content development and operational support for public radio, television, and related online and mobile services. It supports programs and projects related to diversity, digital media, industrial innovation, arts and culture, education, and news and public affairs. CPB funds the Independen... t Television Service; five minority program consortia which includes African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander producers; and several other independent productions. CPB provides money directly to PBS in order to support signature programs such as Nova, American Experience, PBS NewsHour, Great Performances, and children’s content. The “system support” funding of CPB negotiates and pays music royalties on behalf of all public broadcasting, funds research to explore audience needs and technological opportunities, and pays half the operating costs of the public television interconnection system. Corporation for Public Broadcasting is based in Washington, D.C., United States.
