CRETE CERAMICS

After having studied archaeology I have in the late 1980s learned fundamental basics of the pottery craft in traditional greek workshops. Working since then as a potter myself I also at the same time have been trading these traditional pots and amphoras from Crete. After the start of our cooperation with www.palatina-werkstatt.de in 2011 we with our partner Jörg Beyer can offer these hand-crafted flowerpots and decorative amphorae also through our internetshop www.kreta-keramik.com Eve... ry single pot is handmade on the potter`s wheel with an unique technique - dating many centuries back to ancient Greece - that enables the creation of pots to an height of more than 1m without any help of plaster moulds etc. - only with the strong hands, the eye and generation long experience of the "potter master". Today this specific unrivaled craftsmen skill is only found and seriously practised in some traditional workshops and small manufacturers in the mountains of Crete. As we ever since work together with the same small family run workshop we can guarantee for consistent high quality, for the unique character of each single pot and having used this ceramics in our own gardening for over twenty years most importantly for the frostresistence even of planted pots.More
