EAST CHINA UNIVERSITY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND LAW
East China University of Political Science and Law is the first group of higher political and law colleges founded by New China. In June 1952, approved by the East China Military and Political Committee, the law departments of 9 institutions including St. John's University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Soochow University, Xiamen University, Hujiang University, Anhui University, Shanghai College, and Aurora University. The Department of Political Science and the Department of Social Scie... nces merged and established the East China University of Political Science and Law at the former site of St. John's University. In 1958, the school was merged into the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences; in 1963, it was re-established and enrolled the following year; in 1966, enrollment was stopped, and in 1972 it was revoked; in March 1979, it was approved by the State Council and the second re-school. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed East China University of Political Science and Law. The school is a university managed by Shanghai. Professor Guo Weilu, the current party secretary, and Professor Ye Qing, the president.
