EUROPEAN SOUTHERN OBSERVATORY
The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is an intergovernmental astronomy organization and astronomical observatory. The organization operates a suite of ground-based astronomical telescopes enabling important scientific discoveries, and offers possibilities for technology spin-off and transfer, together with high technology contract opportunities. It provides research facilities to astronomers and is supported by Austria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The European Southern Observatory was founded in 1962 and is based in Munich, Germany.
