EXPLORING COMPUTER SCIENCE

exploring-computer-science-logo

Exploring Computer Science is an educational organization focused on enhancing computer science learning opportunities in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second largest school district in the country, and to broaden the participation of African-American, Latina female students in learning the subject. The company works on changes on multiple levels: technical (curriculum, professional development, counselor education); belief systems (stereotypes about what type of stud... ent can do computer science, low expectations); and political (policy changes that must occur to institutionalize computer science learning at the high school level, especially in schools with high numbers of students of color). Adapting an inquiry-based instruction routine, the Exploring Computer Science also holds weekend workshops and regular follow-ups. Exploring Computer Science was established in 2004 and is based in the United States.
