FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ALAGOAS
The Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal), a federal higher education institution, is located at Campus AC Simões, in Maceió, and at two more campuses in the interior of the state: Campus Arapiraca and its units in Viçosa, Penedo and Palmeira dos Indians and Sertão Campus, based in Delmiro Gouveia, and unit in Santana do Ipanema. There are about 26 thousand students enrolled in the 84 undergraduate courses, distributed in 23 Academic Units, in the capital (53), and in Arapiraca (19) and Sertão (8) campuses. In the postgraduate course, there are 39 strictu sensu programs offered, 30 masters and nine doctorates, with 2,312 students, and 13 specializations. In Distance Education, there are four thousand undergraduates.
