World resources are expected to be depleted in the next 30 to 50 years and increasing scarcity is driving metal prices up, sometimes doubling in a few years. 86% of ore that is being extracted, containing up to 10years+ metal consumption, is not processed as metal concentration is too low. Each year a volume of low-metal concentrated soils equivalent to the area of Paris and 100m high is extracted and not processed. It is not only a missed opportunity to recover significant amounts of metal, but it is also a serious risk for the environment. At Genomines, we bring together 2 worlds: Agriculture and Mining. We offer a sustainable alternative to conventional mining by genetically enhancing the natural ability of plants to hyperaccumulate metals.
