Since the company's inception more than 50 years ago, Glimcher has evolved dramatically from a family-owned developer of single tenant and anchored strip centers in the Midwest to a company focused on high quality malls throughout the country. Herb Glimcher, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, founded The Glimcher Company in 1959, grew the company from the 1960s to the 1990s, and formed Glimcher Realty Trust, taking the company public in January 1994.
