The future enterprise is real time, enabled by the ability to deploy AI across their distributed business.    This piece highlights how edge has transformed various sectors in 2024 by bringing AI closer to the devices and environments where data is generated to drive operational efficiency and growth.    𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲? https://lnkd.in/edHbKdpe #edgeAI #edgecomputing

  • At first glance this announcement might not seem particularly remarkable, but it’s actually an example of how Moore’s Law is continuing in the edge.       Devices like these now provide enough compute at low energy and cost to enable large-scale real-time inference – something that was unimaginable not long ago!    By harnessing this capability what challenges and opportunities could you now tackle as a real-time enterprise?    At Linebreak, we help enterprises to drive efficiency through intelligent real-time decisioning, enabled by edge and distributed computing. Get in touch to see how you can exploit data across your business and respond to events whenever, wherever, and even before they occur. #edgeAI #edgecomputing

  • Edge computing and AI are transforming retail with real-time insights, improved security, streamlined checkouts, and optimised inventory.   Retailers that leverage these technologies can enhance their operational efficiency and offer the next level of customer experience: hyper-personalization.  At Linebreak, we’re already helping global players to develop architectures that leverage customer data on device e.g. phone/glasses, in their location e.g. stores and in their cloud profile for hyper-personalized recommendations in real time.  𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲  https://lnkd.in/e8sVf6_j #hyperpersonalization #edgeAI #realtimedata

I was pleased to attend the Digital Transformation Conference in London yesterday (21st November). Very informative and insightful sessions from speakers on how their businesses are approaching transformation and in particular the impact and opportunities of AI & GenAI. A few core themes to call out; - Always be clear on the alignment with business strategy and goals (not tech for the sake of it) - Bring stakeholders and end-users / colleagues along the journey (people and culture change) - Many enterprises are still in experimentation mode - keep it agile (learn fast) - Do build iteratively through PoCs (I prefer the term PoV - proof of *value*) - Build PoCs not just to throw away but that can be scaled (be enterprise-ready) Specifically for AI and GenAI; - You can't solve with AI and GenAI without strong data management. Garbage in-out was mentioned a few times! - But data needs to be good enough, not perfect (which may be impossible as we've seen from decades of trying!) - Governance is key to align projects with your ethics, principles and external regulations - Explainability of AI is essential in many use cases, especially involving people For many technology leaders, the above should be reassuring. Adopting AI and GenAI relies on good practices used in previous industry disruption cycles. Keep in mind though there is a notable speed and scale difference, enabled by those previous cycles (e.g. SaaS platforms rely on cloud and internet technologies). A final observation - several speakers touched on the enterprise need for real-time insights (which naturally got my attention), noting that the point was associated with cloud-based and centralised platforms. Linebreak and our partners believe that to truly be a real-time enterprise requires leveraging your data *wherever* it is. With more than 70% of that data sitting outside of the cloud, enterprises will need to put AI and GenAI where the data and action is happening. This means complementing cloud with distributed and edge computing for intelligent real-time decisioning and with our innovative technology partners and providers, enterprises can already leverage it to drive their efficiency and growth agendas. #digitaltransformation #distributedcomputing #edgecomputing #AI #GenAI #Realtime

Plenty of food for thought after last week’s Connected Enterprise event hosted by Constellation Research, Inc. where I had the pleasure of joining an expert panel on the lessons learned from AI projects. Some of my perspectives from the session: In 2024, enterprises started to prioritise their AI use cases. In 2025 it will be all about moving from pilots and POCs to full-on production implementation. AI is the real deal and it’s set to completely transform the enterprise on three levels: 𝟭 - 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗫𝗢 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: It's about fully understanding the implications of AI across the business. AI is a game changer that’s revolutionising operations and services, but it needs a solid roadmap to make it executable.  𝟮 - 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: AI is speeding up operations by tackling the tasks that require complex decisioning, tasks that traditional coding just can’t handle.  𝟯- 𝗖𝗜𝗢/𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: Data is the foundation, with truckloads of it being generated. Quality and accuracy really matter so Ops and IT are teaming up to find the best ways to harness AI.    The bottom line is that enterprises need control of all their data, and the biggest challenge is that most of that data is outside the cloud. To thrive, a connected enterprise must also embrace distributed systems to reap the full benefits of AI across their business. Big thanks to R "Ray" Wang and the team at Constellation for an inspiring event looking at how disruptive technologies can drive transformation and to my fellow panellists (Holger, Chris and Laurie) for a lively and engaging discussion! • Global spend on edge computing is predicted to reach USD 228 BN in 2024 and USD 378 BN by 2028 – a double-digit CAGR of 13.4%. The key driver behind the rise is the focus on leveraging AI for real-time decisioning. This is where the edge comes into its own.    Looking at the figures, it's no surprise that manufacturing accounts for the biggest chunk of the spend with its heavy focus on critical machines. Predictive maintenance is the driving use case.    Leveraging AI, IOT and edge means equipment and processes can be monitored in real time to avoid costly machine breakdowns, reduce downtime, while improving operational efficiency.      At Linebreak our game-changing predictive maintenance solution is built around adaptive AI to learn instantly in the field, avoiding expensive, time-consuming cloud training cycles.       Our GenAI component is context aware and leverages the latest RAG architectures to act as a copilot, providing insights and recommendations to the operator to make the right, timely decisions.   𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲? Get in touch with Sashreek Y. to find out more #predictivemaintenance #edgecomputing #edgeai
