Jessica Vasiliou
Contracts Administrator
Jessica Vasiliou
Contracts Administrator, VIC
“I started working with FDC as a Cadet in January 2022. Within six months of working closely with the Victorian team on some highlight projects, I progressed to a Contracts Administrator role.
Whether I’m going out to tender, meeting with clients or going on site, I love that no day in this job is ever the same. There’s also plenty of problem solving and learning from site managers, too.
One of my highlights has been working on the Circular Plastics Recycling Facility project. There’s a deep sense of satisfaction in seeing a job evolve from an empty site to a completed building.
I feel lucky to work for a company that is so supportive. From the moment I started at FDC, they helped me to gain the knowledge and independence to get to the next level. It’s a terrific environment. Everyone who works here is kind and respectful and I’ve learnt so much along the way.”
Adrian Pace
Project Manager
Adrian Pace
Project Manager, SA
“In the five years I’ve worked at FDC the one thing that has always stood out is the excellent values and culture within the business. I’ve had a lot of mentoring along the way, and it’s been a very positive experience getting to work with different project managers – everyone has their own style of doing business. It’s led me to learn different ways of doing the same job: more efficient and more productive ways, and that has enhanced how I work towards achieving the best outcome for everyone involved.
I’m proud to have delivered some big projects for FDC, including the Plaza Premium Lounge fitout at Adelaide Airport, alongside a few other fitout within the airport including Coopers Alehouse, The Pantry and SOHO Bar. There’s a sense that you’re making an impact in society when creating spaces people utilise every day, especially when they get a lot of positive attention.”

WHEN DID YOU JOIN FDC?
I joined in 2014, having worked in commercial construction since 2009. Before that I completed a degree in Construction Management at the University of Newcastle.
FAVOURITE FDC PROJECT?
Phoenix Central Park. It’s the private art gallery and performance space of Judith Neilson, located in Chippendale in Sydney. We’ve had the privilege of working with two amazing architects, John Wardle Architects and Durbach Block Jaggers, on a truly once-in-a-lifetime project.
HIDDEN TALENT OR PASSION?
I’m very passionate about making the construction industry more inclusive for women. I love working in construction and want more women to enjoy the same challenges and opportunities I’ve had. The industry has so much to offer, but unfortunately it doesn’t cross the radar of most women I know.
IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE?
Bill Gates. He is a great problem solver in both business and philanthropy and he isn’t afraid to tackle the biggest challenges, which I find really inspiring.
IN 20 YEARS TIME I WANT TO BE…
Continuing to build amazing projects, developing the next generation of talent and using my time and skills to serve people in our community who need it most.
David Young
Construction Manager

WHEN DID YOU JOIN FDC?
I began in 2004 as a technician/team leader in the service division. After five years I moved into a service supervisor roll before becoming a Service Manager. I then had the opportunity to experience the mechanical installations side of the business as a Project Manager. These days I’m a Construction Manager. I say all this to illustrate what you can achieve when you have a positive approach, can-do attitude and work hard.
FAVOURITE FDC PROJECT?
Next DC S2 is one of the best to date. I’ve really enjoyed it due to the level of involvement from design and estimating to the actual project delivery. The client’s satisfaction is second to none. It gives me a real sense of pride in what we can achieve as team.
HIDDEN TALENT OR PASSION?
Probably my ability to get the best out of people. It’s all about humble interactions, listening and encouraging collaboration for the best outcomes.
IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE?
Richard Branson. He has the right recipe and attitude for good business growth and comes across as a quiet achiever. I’m inspired by that.

2004. Before that I worked for myself and also spent time as a Project Manager with a Tier 1 company which was subsequently acquired by Walter Constructions. My studies include a Bachelor of Science, Associate Diploma of Science (Building) and Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and Investment.
FAVOURITE FDC PROJECT?
Every project is different. But with over $1.4b worth of completed Data Centre work, our team has played an active role in the evolution of the digital community. Data centres have diverse designs, but seek to achieve the same goal. It’s these inherent variances that differentiate our clients and ultimately drive their success.
HIDDEN TALENT OR PASSION?
I enjoy playing rugby, cricket and golf. Mind you I’m a bit time poor these days as my weekends are spent on the sidelines watching my three kids!
IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE?
David Attenborough. A great, humble man who has seen and done so much in his life. His ability to capture the minds and hearts of today’s kids is a skill that can only be envied.
IN 20 YEARS TIME I WANT TO BE…
Playing golf. If the body allows me!

I really enjoyed the Early Contractor Involvement on our D&C project. The process gave me so much new knowledge – and it’s now helping me provide even better solutions for our clients.
HIDDEN TALENT OR PASSION?
I’ve always been good at numbers and problem solving. I also have good attention to detail – important when you’re pricing a job!
IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE IN THE WORLD?
Steve Jobs. He was a creative entrepreneur who united the ideas and intellect of truly great, talented people. He was also great at anticipating consumer’s needs and wants. He knew which marketing messages would work, and which wouldn’t.

Project Director
Emma Thomy
Project Director, NSW
“I joined FDC as a Contracts Administrator 15 years ago, after deciding that my previous career in interior design wasn’t for me. Construction just felt right, and I enjoyed being involved in the detail. I was lucky to have supportive management since day one, and to be put on some incredible jobs early on in my career that gave me the opportunity to get to where I am now.
That first job was a huge two-year project for Qantas which involved refurbing four buildings, undertaking strengthening works and joining the building with a massive atrium. It was one of the first huge-scale designer construction, fitout and refurb jobs FDC delivered, and it was the beginning of my career trajectory. Over the years, I progressed from a Project Coordinator role to Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, before stepping into my current role as Project Director.
If you’ve got a passion, pursue it. You know what you’re capable of. You know what you can do. And don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t.”
Michael Osborne

Michael Osborne
Foreman, QLD
“I had been working as a subcontractor on FDC sites for many years prior to joining FDC full-time in 2018 as a Foreman. I was lucky enough to work on the Asahi extension in Heathwood and now I’m at Hope Island about to start Stage 2 of the Esperance project.
I’ve worked with a lot of different companies over the years, but FDC is top tier for team culture onsite. Everyone works so well together. You can be yourself, everyone respects each other’s ways of doing things and there’s always someone backing you up. It’s a welcoming environment, with a lot of opportunity for growth, and a lot of support to help you get to that next step.
One of the best things about working at FDC is the relationships I’ve built with my Site Manager Gary, Bruce the Construction Manager, Simon the General Manager and the rest of the team. I know that if I ever have an issue, I can talk to them on a personal level. It’s unreal to work at a place where the dialogue is always open. They really take the time to make sure that everyone knows their voice is heard, and that at FDC, we’re all in this together.”
We’re always on the lookout for talented and passionate individuals to join our team. If you think you might have what it takes, please view our current opportunities or introduce yourself for future opportunities.
