    Richard Lai Group Chief Financial Officer

    As the Group Chief Financial Officer, Richard will lead the financial strategies and operations, tax, treasury and cash management, business models design and development, partnership development, and governance of the whole IMC Group’s business activities. He will support critical business transformation and mergers and acquisition (M&A) projects and collaborate closely with stakeholders in the Group Corporate Office. He will also work with the leaders in the various Strategic Business Groups (SBGs) to ensure alignment and successful execution of the group’s strategies. This role will be instrumental to achieving the Group’s vision, as well as to add sustainable value to the organization and community.

    Richard has more than 30 years of experience in the financial, property and banking industries, having held key roles in finance, banking, asset management, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and logistics, as well as appointed CFO of several SGX-listed entities. He was most recently the Group CFO in SingPost Group, overseeing all financial and strategic investment matters, driving the direction and profitability of the Property portfolio. Prior to SingPost, he served for almost four years as CFO in GuocoLand Limited, part of the Hong Leong Group Malaysia. Richard was also the CEO of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management before leaving to start his own real estate capital management firm, LABRO Capital. He was previously a banker in various capacities with various banks and financial institutions including Standard Chartered Bank, Schroders and Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank (now known as AmInvestment Bank Berhad).

    Richard graduated with a Bachelor in Economics (Honours) with a major in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and is a member of Malaysian Mensa Society.

    As Head, Group People & Organisation, Sherin is responsible for designing and developing People & Organization strategies, practices, policies, programmes and processes for deployment across IMC Group in order to support the achievement of business objectives. At the same time, she works closely with all business leaders to ensure HR-related governance. In her role as Senior Consultant and Coach, she works closely with AITIA team in serving the Organisation Development needs for the IMC Group.

    Prior to joining IMC, Sherin was the Regional HR Director for Asia in International SOS where she owned and drove all HR programmes, processes and requirements for the Asia region. She was also a member of the Asia Region Executive Committee. Under her leadership, the Asia region HR teams won 10 external HR Awards (out of the 13 that the entire organization won) and was also lauded for instituting best practices in talent management within the organization. Sherin has been with the IMC Group for almost 13 years from 2004 to early 2017. During her stint with IMC, Sherin held both human resource management and development roles, and was responsible for driving HR programmes aimed at attracting, engaging, developing and retaining talents to enable the delivery of business strategy and growth.

    Sherin holds a Masters in Consulting and Coaching for Change from INSEAD, a post-graduate diploma in HRM from SIM and is also certified to administer and provide feedback on MBTI, Firo-B, DISC, Emergenetics, Bar-on EQ-I and WAVE.

    Sherin graduated with an honours degree in Law from the National University of Singapore and started her career as a practising lawyer before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore as a Foreign Service Officer.

    As Head of Group Corporate Finance, Rachel is responsible for the reporting and governance of the Group financials and accounting process, and tax compliance for the Group level legal entities. She also leads the annual business planning and budgeting, monthly forecasting and management reporting activities of the Group.

    Rachel has over 20 years of experience in IMC. Prior to joining IMC, she was with the Auditor-General’s Office and led different types of reviews in statutory boards, ministries and government departments. Rachel started her career with IMC in Internal Audit, and over the years had taken on different corporate roles including Human & Organization Resources, IT Systems & Processes, Business Planning & Process Management and Financial Controllership.
    Rachel received a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the University of Tasmania and a Master of Finance from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

    Group Legal and Risk Management

    Chen Yen holds the position of Head, Group Risk Management and is responsible for the development of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework for the IMC Group.

    As a lawyer of many years’ experience, Chen Yen also manages legal, corporate secretarial and corporate governance matters for the IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group. He has worked for the IMC Group since 2005 and was previously in private legal practice with leading law firms in Singapore.

    Chen Yen graduated from the National University of Singapore’s Law School and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1997. He is also admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

    Lai Peng has more than 20 years of internal auditing experience in audit firm, securities exchange and local and foreign banks covering governance, risk management and compliance and taxation experience in Inland Revenue of Singapore. Lai Peng played various senior roles in the audit functions with regional and global coverage, including heading the internal audit function of the Singapore Office of a European bank.

    Lai Peng holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the National University of Singapore and Master of Applied Finance from the Macquarie University, Australia. She is a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, USA (ISACA). Lai Peng also holds a Diploma in Translation and Interpretation from the Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business.

    As a Senior Director, James leads aspects of M&A and Strategy– from opportunity identification to execution; including sourcing, qualification, financial modelling, due diligence and closing. James also works closely with SBG leaders and Corporate Functions and support them in their strategy and structures aligned to the overall IMC Group strategy. James also looks after IMC’s real estate portfolio and IMC Ventures, which is the Corporate Venture Arm for IMC Industrial Group.

    Prior to joining IMC, James was with YCH Group, where he spearheaded YCH’s joint ventures and M&As across the group. He also led the group’s acquisition of warehouses across Asia Pacific and managed 15 logistic assets across 7 countries. James was also the Founding Partner of Supply Chain Angels, YCH’s Corporate Venture Capital vehicle which partners with SG Innovate and National Research Foundation.

    James has more than 18 years of experience across various fields including private banking, private equity and investment banking in institutions like DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, Oppenheimer Investments and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services. Whilst at Oppenheimer Investments, James was the Head of Asia for 5 years and was instrumental in starting and growing the business for the group in Asia. He has successfully closed Project Finance deals in excess of US500mn across various industries like infrastructure, consumer goods and real estate. In addition, James also ran a family office which invested in healthcare, consumer goods, aged care, engineering, renewable energy and childcare.

    James graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Corporate Finance from University of Western Australia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (Australia).
