  • A patient is screened for diabetes and gets a positive result. Now what?  Receiving a diagnosis is overwhelming, and without proper follow-up, critical care may be missed. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common diagnoses made by family physicians. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to blindness, limb amputation, kidney failure, and vascular and heart disease. Screening patients before signs and symptoms develop leads to earlier diagnosis and treatment, but may not reduce rates of end-organ damage. Built on the Canvas SDK, we’ve made it easy to install our Diabetes Diagnosis extension to your EMR and customize it to fit specific clinical protocols and organizational needs. Healthcare organizations are tasked with an ever-growing amount of complexity as they manage different types of visits, payment models and care approaches on multiple tools. Siloed EMRs only cause more friction with limited data sharing and constraints on changing experiences. Canvas Medical’s SDK provides clinicians and organizations with an easy way to share data and create dynamically changing experiences based on provider needs. To best illustrate this, take a look at our "Your First Application" guide—a step-by-step resource for customers getting started to install, initialize, and customize embeddable applications within the Canvas platform. Have a specific need like embedding an HIE data feed in an iframe? Check out the guide in the comments to learn more about the structure of extensions in the Canvas platform and how you can make it work for you. #HealthTech #EMR #FHIR #SDK

The Spotlight is all yours, 🔆 Jessica Herbert 🔆! Thank you for being a light in customer support and a supporter of Pylon. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? I'm a natural caretaker and endlessly curious, so I've always gravitated toward roles where I could help others and improve processes. I started my career as a medical assistant caring for patients, which taught me empathy and problem-solving skills. These skills translated perfectly when I transitioned into customer support in healthcare software. When my hospital offered a role providing side-by-side support for EMR users, it felt like the perfect next step. Joining Canvas Medical in 2018 allowed me to channel these values into building a people-first support team. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? The biggest shift I’ve seen is the rapid evolution of tools and the corresponding need for technical proficiency. It’s no longer enough just to understand your company’s product and help customers navigate it. Today, especially in healthtech, support teams are expected to work with APIs, SDKs, your application database and technical logs. Another key change is the emphasis on collaboration and knowledge-sharing, ensuring teams are equipped to handle evolving customer needs. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺? I set high standards—higher than most—and I’m upfront about that because it challenges us to grow and deliver exceptional results. At the same time, I make it clear that I’m always available for questions, support, or mentoring. I often dive into managing our support channels alongside my team, which helps me stay in touch with their frustrations and challenges. By encouraging empathy, curiosity, and collaboration, we’ve built a culture of continuous improvement and shared commitment to customer success. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? Be open to new challenges and always ask questions—even the ones you think are obvious. Learn everything you can about your product, your customers, and your tools. But don’t stop there—capture what you learn. I could not emphasize any more strongly my commitment and the need for any support team to invest in documentation. Good docs are a win for your team, for your customer, and for you as a manager. Whether it’s creating helpful documentation or mentoring others, sharing your knowledge ensures it can have an impact far beyond just your role. Support is about growing together, and the more you give, the more you’ll learn in return. --------------- If you want to see more of Jessica Herbert discussing the role of AI in Knowledge Management, attend our webinar tomorrow! Studies have shown that around 89% of patient medical records contain coding errors. Miscoding can create ripples in billing and reimbursement accuracy and in clinical, operational, and financial workflows, leading to disruptions in patient care and operational efficiency. Built on the Canvas SDK, the HCC Capture Extension was created to reduce incorrect coding and ensure accurate documentation by surfacing coding opportunities directly within the Canvas EMR. The HCC Capture Extension: ✅ Presents Care Gaps based on Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding in the patient chart, providing key recommendations for CDI reviewers to validate. Once validated, Care Gaps are easily referenced in the patient’s summary ✅ Annotates diagnosis search results with an HCC tag based on a provided list to guide coders to preferred codings ✅ Highlights condition list items with HCC tags, both in the patient summary and the claim view By integrating real-time validation directly into clinician workflows, HCC Capture makes it easier to ensure coding accuracy, streamline data, and enhance patient care. 🔗 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/gXtEsCXW HCC Capture is just one example of how Extensions built with the Canvas SDK empower care teams with smarter workflows. 🔗 Browse 150+ Extensions: https://lnkd.in/guc47x86 #PatientCare #Coding #CanvasMedical

  • Efforts by the ASTP/ONC have improved day-to-day interoperability over the last 15 years. The expanding versions of USCDI have made more categories of data interoperable, and the adoption of FHIR has helped move data to more teams who need it. But there is still a lot of work to do. Specifically, ASTP should consider requiring write operations on all FHIR resources for which it requires reads. EMRs (other than Canvas) and other Certified Health IT Products will complain, but as stewards of others' data, they have no right to. Canvas is engineered with a deep unified architecture across patient records and clinical workflows, and boasts more writable FHIR API endpoints than any other EMR. That's one more way Canvas accelerates everyday medicine. Read Andrew Hines’ full perspective in Healthcare IT Today below. • In a 2024 study conducted on telehealth utilization, 22% of adults reported using telehealth services in the last four weeks. We're proud to see our partner, Bridge, build its Canvas Medical Extension to enable telehealth clinics using Canvas EMRs to offer their patients insurance-covered care within a matter of weeks. With the Bridge Integration Extension for Telehealth Clinics built on the Canvas SDK, ▪️ Providers can seamlessly expand access to patients who need care through its plug-and-play insurance platform. The extension enables seamless navigation from a patient in Canvas to their medical record in Bridge and automatically syncs the patient data between the two systems to ensure all information is up to date.  ▪️Developers can quickly implement Bridge—all they need is a Bridge account and an associated API key ▪️Organizations can save time and money with the prebuilt integration instead of building from scratch or managing disparate systems, giving their telehealth teams the control and customization they deserve Thank you to our partners like Bridge who are helping to accelerate everyday medicine one Extension at a time. • How do healthcare organizations strike the right balance between technical innovation and security? Our founder and CTO Andrew Hines shared his thoughts with Healthcare IT Today’s  Grayson Miller — “While managing large volumes of electronic health records, it’s critical to keep patient data safe and secure. Healthcare organizations need to prioritize this, but shouldn’t try to reinvent the wheel. Choose a cybersecurity framework like HITRUST, apply it, and get external auditing and validation to ensure security. Also, make sure your core IT vendors — especially your EHR and any analytics vendors — do the same.” From day one, cybersecurity has been a top priority at Canvas, and we’ve instituted measures that meet or exceed industry standards on all fronts. With HITRUST-certified, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, including military-grade encryption, automated testing, and continuous employee training, we ensure your data is protected at every level. Check out the full piece below for more industry insights, and visit our website (linked in the comments) to learn how we prioritize security to accelerate everyday medicine. https://lnkd.in/dKdN-JQE #HealthcareIT #EHR #DataSecurity #CanvasMedical
