  • What a year 2024 has been! Thanks to your support in our charitable mission, this year we’ve been able to... 👋 1. Welcome thousands of you to explore our Biomes and Outdoor Gardens, with the aim of connecting you with nature, demonstrating and communicating positive change, and inspiring advocates of action. 🌴 2. Rehome an extremely rare 𝘛𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴 palm (there are thought to be fewer than 40 mature plants in the wild). It is now the rarest plant in our Rainforest Biome and means we can help to protect this species for years to come. ⚒️ 3. Hit a major milestone as planning permission was granted for Eden Project Dundee. The community-focused project will deliver hundreds of jobs, generate millions of pounds for the local economy and inspire positive action for the planet. 🎓 4. Host 32,000 students from 960 schools, colleges and universities at our home in Cornwall, plus live stream to 89,000 learners online, empowering younger generations to respect, protect and care for nature. 🇨🇷 5. Expand our work in Costa Rica’s Nicoya Biological Corridor. We are working to reinforce forest health, expedite long-term crops, preserve rich biodiversity and protect the wellbeing of local communities. 🥪 6. Bring over 10 million people together for the Eden Project Communities Big Lunch, leading to new friendships, reduced loneliness and millions raised for good causes. 🌼 7. Sow nearly 45 acres of wildflowers along the new road being built between the A30 and St Austell in Cornwall. Thanks to our National Wildflower Centre and volunteers, these areas will bloom with vibrant wildflowers for years to come, providing vital habitats for wildlife and enhancing the beauty of local landscapes. 🌿 8. Facilitate a range of nature-based activities for better health and wellbeing for over 1,000 participants, including horticultural therapy, COPD walking groups and creative workshops. Our Therapy Garden participants grew and harvested an amazing 583 pumpkins, which we used in our Halloween displays! 🎨 9. Host works by renowned artists including Ai Weiwei, Cornelia Parker and Serge Attukwei Clottey, exploring social and environmental narratives to inspire connections with nature, communities and culture. 🍅 10. Start using energy generated from our geothermal plant to heat our Biomes, offices and new plant nursery. This year we harvested our first fresh produce from the nursery and have since supplied 2.2 tonnes of tomatoes for our chefs to use in the kitchens! Our growing range of projects, from local to global, aim to transform places and lives. We couldn’t achieve any of this without you! It’s amazing what we can do when we work together. See you in 2025.

  • Bringing wildflowers back to Cornwall. 🌼 The Eden Project National Wildflower Centre and volunteers, the Wildflower Warriors, have sown seeds of change along the new link road being built between the A30 and St Austell. Nearly 45 acres of banks and verges will bloom with vibrant wildflowers, creating vital habitats for wildlife for years to come. This pioneering project is a model for sustainable development, supporting biodiversity and mental wellbeing while adding beauty to Cornwall's landscapes. #WildflowerWarriors #EdenProject #Cornwall #Sustainability #Biodiversity #NatureForward

  • We'd like to pay tribute to Sir Richard Carew Pole, who died peacefully at home in Cornwall on Sunday 1 December, aged 85. Sir Richard was a Director of the Eden Project between 1999 and 2001 and then a Trustee between 2002 and 2007 and was an instrumental figure at the project during his tenure. His distinguished career also included a period as President of the Royal Horticultural Society from 2001 to 2006. Sir Richard was a keen gardener and plantsman. His family estate, Antony near Torpoint in east Cornwall, is famed for its beautiful gardens which include a historic collection of daylilies. In a joint statement on behalf of the Eden Project, Andy Jasper, Chief Executive Officer, and Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, said: “The Eden Project, the County of Cornwall and the nation lost a true champion and a national treasure on Sunday. “We at the Eden Project, where Sir Richard was a Trustee in our early formative years, hugely mourn his passing. He was a man of legendary dedication to Cornwall and his visionary leadership was instrumental in the creation of Tate St Ives and the Eden Project, sparking a renaissance in the region. “As President of the Royal Horticultural Society from 2001 to 2006, he elevated the organisation to new heights, earning the Victoria Medal of Honour in 2007 for his exceptional contributions to horticulture. “His profound love for gardens and Cornwall was evident in all he did. To many, he was not only a professional ally but also a cherished friend. Cornwall has lost one of a very special breed. A public servant of honour and distinction in a world where these attributes have never been more needed or deserving of notice. “We send our deepest condolences to Sir Richard’s wife, Lady Carew Pole, and to Tremayne and John, their two sons. Thank you for sharing this special man with all of us.”
