Here is another article written by Glass Container Manufacturing Consulting Ltd and published in this month's issue of Glass International. This article crams in all the key technical features and history of this blank- and blow-mould infrared-camera temperature measurement system created by KONATIC and currently successfully operating in the glass container industry. It was a pleasure to write this article to keep the glass industry abreast of the details of the current developments in this field. If you or your company need any assistance writing glass technical articles, please get in touch.

Just checking over the draft publication version of the article I worked with KONATIC on to evaluate the main features of their Spyro blank and mould temperature measurement system. It is great to see how it goes from just rough notes and thoughts into a polished, published article in such a short space of time. Good to see the editorial input from to make it very attractive, presentable and readable. I am not sure of a publication date yet for the finished article but of course I will let you know when that is going to be as soon as I find out. Advances in technology and updated applications of such advances to our industry are what will ensure we remain competitive in the packaging industry. Which is the real industry we are in... not just glass packaging! I am not sure everyone really understands that as I see glass companies battling more against other glass companies for business, rather than focussing on glass against the alternative packaging materials. Anyway, back to the main content of the article. I did give a link previously to the outline specification of the system and here it is again in case you did not review that information last time. https://lnkd.in/e7mTN_Nk

In the pictures I’m sharing some screen shots of a technical discussion I had yesterday with the KONATIC team. The discussion was around the process and technical merits of their new approach to blank and mould temperature automatic control. There are some impressive features and intellectual differences to other systems currently available to carry out similar duties. It’s great to see glass forming production support systems getting better and better. The bringing of the blanks and moulds under fully automatic temperature control using infrared cameras mounted at the blow side of the machine offers several key advantages. I hope to expand on this in detail in an up-coming article to be published in Glass International Most glass plants are still running lines with blank and mould temperatures in open loop control (using manual adjustments only). With the recent advances in infrared camera technology, and the consequent reduction in price for those cameras, Konatic have ceased the opportunity to bring this new approach to blank and mould temperature control to assist in glass container manufacturing 😀. I’m looking forward to finding out more about this system and writing about it. Furthermore I’m looking forward to adding my thoughts into the magazine article on all the possibilities this new system (called Spyro) offers us to further improve glass container manufacturing. A short preview of the innovative camera viewpoint is given in the link below. https://lnkd.in/eZnnep4z
