Liberty joined hundreds of people committed to ending violence and abuse at the National Family Safety Summit last week. Ending DFV requires the kind of collective approach and unified action we see here in our Port Macquarie-Hastings community, and it was a privilege to speak on the national stage about all the ways local organisations, businesses and individuals support Liberty's work. CEO Kelly Lamb, Prevention Manager Brooke Maggs, and Communications and Community Advisor Michelle Parker presented a session titled, "Unifying community responsibility to improve safety for women and children and prevent DFV: - Positioning your organisation to drive positive social change - Expanding your sphere of influence and building partnerships for lasting impact - Empowering others to strengthen capacity in your community." Our aim was to inspire others to break down silos, share responsibility and engage with communities to improve outcomes for women and children, uphold respect and safety, and ultimately save lives. Kelly, Brooke and Michelle attended more than 30 sessions, hearing from people with lived-experience, specialist service providers, community-led organisations, sector advocates and government representatives including UN Women, the Commission for Children and Young People, Our Watch, Full Stop, Victoria Police, White Ribbon, No To Violence, Lifeline and more. #nationalfamilysafetysummit Third Sector Au Kelly Lamb Brooke Maggs Michelle Parker

Working together to make our communities safer!
A big thank you to Brooke and Kelly from Liberty Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Services who attended our Taree depot earlier this week to train some of our newer team members on Domestic and Family Violence awareness. Domestic and Family Violence is a prevalent issue in our local communities and this training equips staff with the knowledge, confidence and skills to recognise the signs, respond with care and safely refer a colleague to get the support they need in a workplace setting. Liberty Services provides specialist support for people and families who are affected by domestic and family violence across the Port Macquarie Hastings region and they do incredible work in helping families on their journey towards safety.

Past Present Future - 50 Years of Action Against Gendered Violence Last week Liberty's management team joined other services from across the state for the DVNSW Conference in Sydney. Past - It was in 1974 that a group of women gathered in the same location for the "Women Against the Violence Society Forum". Present - Now in 2024, leaders of the domestic and family violence sector came together for two days of sharing ideas, insights and best-practice. Future - The knowledge Liberty gained at the DVNSW Conference will inspire us as we shape the next 50 years of empowering and keeping women and children safe. Leslie Williams
