Shaping the future of pregnancy health.

About us

Mirvie is the 1st to predict pregnancy complications before they happen by using RNA messages to reveal underlying biology of pregnancy health. Using a simple blood test, the platform reveals vital information about a pregnancy’s unique biology that drives changes throughout pregnancy. The result? The power to transform how we predict, prevent and treat unexpected complications.

Updates

  • Shockingly, in 2025, there’s still so much left to unravel in #pregnancyhealth, as life-threatening complications remain shrouded in mystery: Who is at highest risk of these complications? Why are these devastating complications impacting some pregnancies while sparing others? How can we understand the biology of pregnancy to predict disease and prevent or better manage these conditions? We're excited to share new research at The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine annual meeting, where Dr. Kara Rood will highlight in a plenary talk the ability of the Mirvie RNA platform to predict the risk of a serious complication impacting both moms and babies in pregnancy - severe fetal growth restriction.  The new findings build upon previous research demonstrating the utility of the Mirvie RNA platform to predict pregnancy complications like preeclampsia and pre-term birth, months before symptoms appear. The research stems from Mirvie’s foundational, first-of-its-kind study uncovering the biology of pregnancy health. This comprehensive study examined the biology of nearly 11,000 diverse pregnancies across the United States, collecting more than 20,000 RNA transcripts per patient and translating into 200 million data points overall. Mining the rich dataset with advanced machine learning and AI, Mirvie is unlocking the underlying biology of pregnancy health. Read more about the details here: https://lnkd.in/gwsC62U9

For too long, #womenshealth has been overlooked - creating serious health gaps and worse outcomes because the field has long been under-resourced. This, in particular, stuck out for me in a recent piece by Geri Stengel for Forbes: "For the past 75 years, a lack of innovation in OB/GYN care has hindered the effective identification and management of moderate and high-risk pregnancies. Outdated screening and limited genetic testing contribute to missed diagnoses and delayed care, while a lack of personalized medicine and insufficient pre-and post-natal care leave specific needs unmet. This resulted in higher mortality rates and increased preterm birth risks, especially in marginalized communities." As investment has historically lagged in obstetrics and pregnancy health, the prenatal care model - originally designed to identify and treat preeclampsia - has remained largely unchanged over the past 100 years. Without better tools and resources, overstretched and under-resourced OBGYNs and care teams have to rely on generalized characteristics and demographics like age, BMI, and race to identify who may be at-risk for pregnancy complications. Yet, maternal outcomes continue to worsen and preterm birth is at the highest level it has ever been in the U.S. The status quo isn’t working. Women deserve better. Moms deserve better. We need to understand the biology of women if we want to make progress in understanding how to better treat and manage diseases that impact women. 2025 will be a big year for Mirvie. Mirvie’s foundational, first-of-its-kind study cracks the code of pregnancy health. Insights we never knew about pregnancy are being uncovered from our comprehensive study which examined the biology of nearly 11,000 diverse pregnancies across the United States, collecting >20,000 RNA transcripts and comprehensive clinical records from each patient, translating into over 200 million data points. Mining this rich dataset with advanced #machinelearning + #AI, Mirvie is unlocking the underlying biology of #pregnancyhealth. The Mirvie #RNA platform delivers predictive blood tests that enable preventive care across multiple pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia, preterm birth, and fetal growth restriction. We’re excited to share more insights on the research in the days and months to come.

We’re at an inflection point in #womenshealth. The first wave of startups in the field have focused on scaling digital access to care and normalized discussions focused on tremendous unmet needs in #fertility care access, family planning, and menopause care to support women throughout their lives. Building on this foundation, a new crop of startups like Mirvie and Gameto have invested in biological #research to advance the field and better serve women. We’re addressing the root causes of diseases rather than simply managing symptoms and accelerating breakthroughs that can help reverse the tide of the #maternalhealth crisis, improving the experience for women undergoing fertility treatments and understanding ovarian aging to better treat menopause. Read more in a new Fast Company op-ed by Mirvie CEO Maneesh Jain and Gameto CEO Dr. Dina Radenkovic (Turner) on how biology will catalyze breakthroughs in women’s health (link in comments).

Breana’s story captures the silent epidemic stirring within the maternal health crisis. She was diagnosed with both #preeclampsia and placenta abruption at 33 weeks, which put both her and her baby’s life at risk. Delivering her son pre-term, Breana’s son spent the first 2 weeks of his life in the NICU. Upwards of 60,000 women like Breana nearly die from #pregnancy complications annually. The status quo isn’t working. Rates of preeclampsia - a leading cause of maternal morbidity - have doubled in the last 15 years. Severe maternal morbidity has also doubled over the past two decades. Understanding the “why” behind who’s most at risk for complications like preeclampsia is critical to help solve the #maternalhealth crisis. It’s time to bring pregnancy health into the era of precision medicine. If we can biologically understand who’s at risk early in pregnancy and apply preventive care to those identified as high risk, we have a significantly improved opportunity to prevent preeclampsia or mitigate the severity of the disease. Clinical tools like Mirvie’s test can identify who is most at-risk for preeclampsia, allowing pregnant women and their care team to take every action possible to create the healthiest pregnancy. Read more in a new op-ed in Fast Company from Mirvie CEO Maneesh Jain about the near-miss crisis within pregnancy health and why breakthrough solutions like Mirvie’s test are needed to shatter the status quo and create a new, better standard of care.
