Schroders has been awarded Impact Investing Platform of the Year at the Environmental Finance Impact Awards, in recognition of its excellent impact management process and governance structure.
These awards acknowledge the work of impact investors and highlight best practice across all asset classes and geographies.
As a large, diversified active asset manager, Schroders has developed a cross-asset class impact capability and launched 20 innovative strategies across seven asset classes: listed equity, private equity, listed debt, private debt, infrastructure, real estate and multi-asset solutions.
Earlier this year, Schroders published its first Impact Report – providing a comprehensive summary of the tangible impacts being delivered as a result of these strategies, and reinforcing the Group’s commitment to impact investing.
Schroders Capital is Schroders’ specialist private market business with $97.3 billion of assets under management[1]. Since BlueOrchard’s acquisition in 2019, Schroders and Schroders Capital have leveraged its extensive 20+ year track-record in impact investing, enhancing its capabilities and addressing investors’ increasingly complex requests to deliver returns while also having a positive social and environmental impact.
The breadth of the platform has enabled investment across an array of impactful companies and assets, from onshore windfarms on the English coast and community banking in underserved communities in the US, to blue economy companies addressing overfishing, pollution and habitat destruction, as well as climate insurance in sub-Saharan Africa.
This latest award win further highlights Schroders’ growth in the impact investing space and underscores its leading position in the market.
Maria Teresa Zappia, Head of Sustainability and Impact at Schroders Capital, and Global Head of Impact Schroders, Deputy CEO BlueOrchard, said:
“This recognition highlights the breadth and depth of the impact platform we have built across Schroders and BlueOrchard, spanning 20 strategies to address global challenges across seven asset classes: listed equity, private equity, listed debt, private debt, infrastructure, real estate and multi-asset solutions.
The Schroders-BlueOrchard partnership showcases the power of collaboration in driving impact, leveraging decades of expertise to advance and scale impact investing. From financial inclusion to renewable energy and climate insurance, to cite some sectors, our investments are designed to deliver measurable outcomes with integrity and transparency. It reflects our commitment to scaling impact investing and advancing rigorous impact management practices to drive positive measurable change in combination with delivering financial returns for our clients.”
As part of last year’s Environmental Finance Impact Awards, Catherine Macaulay, Schroders’ Impact Investment Lead, was named Young Professional of the Year/Rising Star.
This closely followed both Schroders and BlueOrchard being recognised as leaders on Bluemark’s Impact Practice Leaderboard – receiving top ratings for alignment with the Operating Principles for Impact Management. This achievement marked the first independent verification of Schroders’ impact management and measurement framework, and BlueOrchard’s third, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to integrity and transparency as part of its approach.
