Today, Fast Company announced that Rubicon has been named to its prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2021.
Rubicon was named number six in the Enterprise category, alongside such leading companies as Honeywell (#4) and Microsoft (#5). This year’s Most Innovative Companies list features 463 businesses from 29 countries. Coming five years after Rubicon made the list in the Social Good category, this win recognizes how Rubicon has spent the last five years delivering on its mission to end waste.
“We are thrilled to be honoring Rubicon in the Enterprise category for its continued and tireless work on furthering environmental innovation,” said Fast Company Deputy Editor David Lidsky, who oversaw the issue with Senior Editor Amy Farley. “In a year of unprecedented challenges, the companies on this list exhibit fearlessness, ingenuity, and creativity in the face of crisis.”
Coming up on a year of Rubicon being a fully remote workforce, I couldn’t be more proud of how our company has handled this change. Fast Company notes that its list “honors the businesses that have not only found a way to be resilient in the past year, but also turned those challenges into impact-making processes.” I remember when we were in the earliest stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and strategizing about how to take our company fully remote while keeping our people safe and ensuring a seamless customer experience. We all knew that those decisions would have a lasting impact on every aspect of our business. A year later, with this recognition from Fast Company as proof, I feel as if we managed through this challenge well and emerged a stronger, more resilient business.
Rubicon is changing the entire waste and recycling industry by bringing transparency, data, and analytics to a category that is ripe for innovation. It is constantly driving the industry forward, as is evident through the winning of national and international innovation awards such as this Fast Company award, our recent Business Intelligence Group (BIG) Innovation Award win earlier this year, and so many others. Additionally, as we push the boundaries of what it means to be a good corporate citizen, steps we have taken such as the creation of Rubicon.org (the company’s official community giving and volunteerism platform) and the company’s recent signing of the Climate Pledge by Amazon and Global Optimism, demonstrate our commitment to our planet and its people.
“Innovation drives everything we do at Rubicon,” said Nate Morris, Founder and CEO of Rubicon. “I am thrilled that Fast Company has recognized our team’s work in developing a market-leading software platform that is transforming the waste and recycling industry. We have only scratched the surface as to what is possible, and we look forward to building on our track record of leadership to reinvent this industry.”
Congratulations to the entire Rubicon team on winning this prestigious award.
