XXV Brazilian Symposium on Geoinformatics - GEOINFO 2025

Spatial Data Science and Applications

GEOINFO is a consolidated and traditional event, held since 1999, dedicated to exploring research, development, and innovative applications in geographic information science and related areas.

Geoinformatics and GIScience are continually advancing, driven by the growing need to understand events and phenomena that are related to locations and time. This demand has motivated significant developments in the collection, management, analysis, and presentation of geospatial data over the years. Researchers and professionals in many fields have become adept at representing, modeling, simulating, and predicting the behaviors of spatial phenomena.

The evolution of geoinformatics extends beyond its own techniques and methods. It is deeply influenced by the specific needs and characteristics of multiple disciplines, including environmental science, urban planning, social science, and transportation.

This creates an intrinsically interdisciplinary research community, a characteristic of GeoInfo participants and contributors since its inception.

For 2025 and beyond, GEOINFO aims to adopt a new perspective on its areas of interest by framing Geospatial Data Science as a unifying research paradigm. This perspective is fully aligned with the open and cooperative personality of past events, and integrates diverse approaches to data collection and management, the computational techniques needed to extract insights from large volumes of geospatial data, and the transformative potential of innovative applications.

GEOINFO ranks among the top 10 conferences of its field by the special interest group on geoinformatics of the Brazilian Computer Society, and with a corresponding relevant classification in the Computer Science conference Qualis from CAPES/BR. All papers published and presented at GEOINFO are available at INPE's Digital Library and other open repositories, such as DBLP and Scopus.
