About us
The role of Bord Bia, The Irish Food Board, is to act as a link between Irish food, drink and horticulture suppliers and existing and potential customers worldwide. Bord Bia was established in 1994 through the amalgamation of the Irish Meat and Livestock Board (Coras Beostoic agus Feola) and the food promotion activities of the Irish Trade Board. In 2004 it amalgamated with Bord Glas to incorporate the development of the horticulture industry and in 2009 Bord Bia took over the promotion of Irish seafood from BIM (Bord Iascaigh Mharaigh). Our mission statement is "to drive, through market insight, and, in partnership with industry, the commercial success of a world-class food, drink and horticulture industry". We have an extensive and in-depth knowledge of the Irish and global food industries, which we are happy to share. We can provide you with details of exports, production, quality standards, health regulations and controls, and new developments in the industry. We can also act as a bridge, putting you in touch with companies appropriate to your areas of interest.

The Bocuse D’or awards are the most prestigious culinary competition in the world, taking takes place every two years during Sirha, the world hospitality and foodservice tradeshow, in Lyon, France. As a sponsor of the awards, Bord Bia was invited to represent Ireland at the gala event, held in the prestigious Abbaye Paul Bocuse. The event saw Irish oysters and spirits presented to over 400 chefs and foodservice distributors, an excellent opportunity for industry experts from across the globe to experience the taste and versatility of quality Irish produce.

In the run up to St Patrick's Day, Irish organic beef and lamb was showcased to Belgian media at an event hosted by celebrity chef Dimitri Marit. The event was part of the EU Organic Beef and Lamb 'Pasture Raised in Ireland' campaign. The evening, hosted at Maison Marit restaurant in Belgium, featured a uniquely designed menu where guests from over 30 media outlets enjoyed a selection of Irish organic beef and lamb dishes, with Irish seafood and cheese also included.
