Jodie Ferneyhough – Founder & President – CCS Rights Management

Jodie Ferneyhough, president of CCS Rights Management (CCS), oversees the operations of the global independent music publishing, rights administration, and creative services company he founded over 10 years ago after heading the Canadian operations for Universal Music Publishing and peermusic.

Jodie took all that came before and founded CCS Rights Management with a vision of a dynamic global independent company that puts artists and songwriters first, providing individualized attention and a full range of services to maximize income, elevate careers, and protect the value of their works. Under his leadership, CCS has experienced continuous growth and significantly expanded its global reach and scope of services provided to a growing roster of award-winning and up-and-coming songwriters, artists, musicians, producers, and labels, as well as major corporate brands and other rightsholders.

CCS manages more than 150,000 copyrights and is the exclusive, worldwide music publishing and neighbouring rights administration company for leading global children’s entertainment company Spin Master Ltd., including PAW Patrol, a top preschool series airing in 160 countries and a winner of the Best Preschool Program Series, Best Sound in an Animated Series, and Best Director at the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards. In addition, Jodie led CCS into a joint venture to help  launch the publishing arm of Ishkōdé Records, an Indigenous and women-owned label dedicated to amplifying and advocating for Indigenous artists, songs, and stories in the commercial landscape.

With over three decades in the industry, Jodie is a respected authority and leader in numerous international organizations as a board member of the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP) and Music Publishers Canada (MPC), where he served as chairman for 13 years. He also sits on the steering committee of CMRRA/SoundExchange. Jodie is also a founding patron of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and co-founder of the Unison Benevolent Fund, a non-profit providing a lifeline to the Canadian music community in times of crisis. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $50 million for counselling, financial assistance, insurance, and emergency relief services for the Canadian music community and won the Slaight Music Humanitarian Award at the 2022 Canadian Country Music Awards.

Throughout his career, Jodie has nurtured the careers of artists and songwriters who have won many major awards and accolades, including Juno Awards, SOCAN Awards, Country Music Awards, Much Music Video Awards, Grammy Awards, and Latin Grammy Awards. As a fervent advocate for the rights of creators, he has been instrumental in lobbying lawmakers and providing education to Canadian and European government officials that have led to transformative copyright reform and changes in policies, laws, and tariffs.

Jordan Howard – Director, A&R Creative Services

Jordan Howard, Creative Director and Global Head of A&R of CCS Rights Management (CCS) and Daytripper Music Publishing, oversees the signings and development of both up-and-coming and award-winning artists, songwriters, and producers. Since starting his role in 2014, Jordan has landed syncs for CCS artists and writers on nearly every major network and platform, including CBC, Netflix, YouTube Red, ABC, MTV, HBO, and more. He is also directly responsible for signing artists POESY, CARYS, Yukon Blonde, Nuela Charles, The Weakerthans, and Tribe Friday.

With over 15 years of diverse experience in the music industry, Jordan has a stellar track record for his incredible work in A&R, developing artists no matter the stage of their career. He has worked closely with CCS Founder and President Jodie Ferneyhough throughout the company’s expansive growth over the last 12 years, celebrating the many successes of its roster, including awards won by Juno nominees Hill Kourkoutis, Colin James, Nuela Charles, Yukon Blonde, and a P3 Guld nomination (Swedish GRAMMY) for Tribe Friday.

Jordan started his career at 18 years old, managing a record store in Toronto, where he met Chris Levoir, lead singer of the band The Mark Inside. Through his relationship with Chris, Jordan built a network of contacts that opened doors for him to independently manage artists and promote shows for the next ten years. In 2011, he accepted a position at the PR and management company Audio Blood where he was the day-to-day manager for Ben Caplan and The Balconies. After leaving Audio Blood, Jordan started working with The Glorious Sons, where he was instrumental in the success of their debut EP, Shapeless Art, and their signing to the label Black Box Music. The band went on to have eight consecutive top-10 rock radio hits in Canada. The following year, he segued from artist management into the role of Executive Director for the Music Managers Forum in Canada before landing at Maple Music/Fontana as their National Sales Manager.

Jordan is a member of Music Publishers Canada, serving on the events committee, and is a co-chair on the NxtGen task force, which seeks to educate and support the next generation of music publishing executives, providing guidance, professional networking opportunities, and access to events.
