There’s such a data-gap in many aspects that impact African entrepreneurship; and salary and compensation data is a big one. Pariti new compensation tool and Kenyan salary benchmarking data is filling a huge data gap📈📊. The first two people I shared the report with: one is a HR Director at a Fund, the other a super successful Tech Founder: -“This is REALLY REALLY helpful! Thanks for sharing!” -“This is great! Thank you!!” 📣If you sit on a Board in Africa, 📣 this is must read in my opinion. You can’t make informed decisions or recommendations without staying current on the value (cost) of talent in the ecosystem. Yacob Berhane

Last week, I came across the 2024 African Salary Report by Pariti, a company that connects founders to talent, and I found some insights from the report very interesting, such as: 1. North Africa led in executive-level salaries, while West Africa offered the lowest entry-level pay but showed strong upward mobility; East and Southern Africa provided balanced pay structures across seniority levels. 2. Executive roles in tech and finance commanded the highest paychecks and broadest salary ranges. 3. Southern Africa dominated tech and deep tech hiring, West Africa excelled in agriculture and finance, and East Africa stood out in finance and retail sectors. 4. Remote work offered the highest salaries, particularly for executive roles. 5. Technical skills, financial expertise, and strong interpersonal abilities topped the list of employer demands. 6. Southern Africa led hiring in Software, AI, and Deep Tech at 42.1%, with Finance & Insurance contributing 26.3%, while West Africa’s market was driven by Agriculture & Food at 20.3% and Finance & Insurance at 21.1%. 7. In East Africa, Finance & Insurance held 22.16% of the market, followed closely by Retail & Consumer Services at 21%, showcasing the region’s strength in finance and customer-focused industries.
