The Munich-based startup e-bot7 was acquired by US-listed LivePerson shortly after our interview with the startup in the summer of 2021. The original press release did not state the purchase price. A regulatory filing, we found unveils the purchase price as 53,10 m US$ in total.
Keeping Track
You know that we like to keep track of our former interview guests, especially when there are interesting developments. An acquisition is surely an exciting development. We did talk about it in our news, but there was some digging to be done in order to get to the purchase price — and of course some waiting.
The Interview Guest e-bot7
The startup e-bot7 (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/e-bot7), which offers AI chatbots for customer service, was acquired by US-listed LivePerson. The acquisition was announced in July 2021 just three months after our interview with the CEO and founder Fabian Beringer. This is a great outcome for the startup, which was founded in 2016 and only raised 8.1 m Euros in venture capital in total (according to CrunchBase). The startup’s chatbots are powered by AI and can provide 24/7 customer service, making it a valuable asset for any company looking to improve its customer service offering. We’re excited to see what the startup will do next, and we’ll be keeping an eye on their progress.

The Purchase Price Breakdown
The press releases did not specify the purchase price. We did some digging and found the 10-Q filing with the SEC of LivePerson, the company acquiring e-bot7. In this filing, the company gave a detailed breakdown of the purchase price and its components, which could be valued at 53,10 m US$. There are three components to this as you can see in the graphic below. The price was paid in cash (24,3 m US$), common stock of LivePerson (20 m US$), and there is an earn-out clause (8,8 m US$) for the executive team if they achieve certain KPIs over time and stay with e-bot 7 long enough.
