  • She breaks gender stereotypes for breakfast. We’re talking about Bindhu Jeevan, one of Svatantra’s customers who made sure her family had a support system even during the pandemic. 🌟  Kirana shops in rural areas make a place for community gathering apart from serving the purpose of an economic driver, community builder, and an employer. Bindhu Jeevan runs a Kirana store that kept not only her family afloat but with the money earned her husband started his own business. Even during uncertain times, she committed to keeping the business going for the benefit of her family and the community. ✨ #SheBuilt support for the family and connection with the community. She is nothing short of an Extraordinary Naari or as we say it #ExtraordiNaari. ⭐ #WeAreSvatanra #SmallBusiness

Stories of Transformation by WCAD Program in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu Through the Water Credit Adoption and Development (#WCAD) program, implemented by Sa-Dhan in partnership with Water.org and Svatantra Microfin, lives have been transformed in the Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu. Among the many beneficiaries are Muthu Lakshmi and Kalaivani, two women residing in the same locality, who now enjoy a significant improvement in their quality of life thanks to the program. Before the intervention, both Muthu Lakshmi and Kalaivani faced daily challenges in accessing water for their households. They had to walk 5 kilometers to fetch water, often standing in long queues at the community well alongside other residents. The process was not only time-consuming but also physically demanding, adding to their workload and limiting time for other productive activities. However, with the assistance of Svatantra Microfin Pvt. Ltd. both women availed easy #loans to install piped water connections in their homes. This development marked a turning point in their lives. The new #household water connections provided numerous benefits, including significant time savings, reduced physical strain, and enhanced access to water. These improvements collectively contributed to better health and a more hygienic lifestyle for both of them. Muthu Lakshmi and Kalaivani’s stories are a testament to how programs like WCAD, in collaboration with organizations such as Water.org and Svatantra Microfin, can empower communities by addressing critical needs like water access. These interventions not only meet immediate necessities but also pave the way for a brighter, healthier future. https://lnkd.in/g5N44iyX Jiji Mammen Chandan Thakur Sunitha Nara Prakhar Tiwari Karthick Ramadas Manoj Gulati Sa-Dhan Association Vineet Chattree #SRO #microfinance #MFI #financialinclusion Anupam Mishra Sangita Das

  • India's rural heart beats strong, yet the lifeblood of credit flows unevenly. The latest India Finance Report 2023 by CAFRAL sheds light on a stark reality: Rural loan sanctions skyrocketed by 200% and urban by 140% in 2022—yet, the overall credit landscape still tilts heavily towards cities. 📊 Rural areas, home to over 60% of our population, received just 18.8% of total retail credit in 2021. Even with NBFCs pushing boundaries, only 20.8% of their ₹57.58 lakh crore lending found its way to rural borrowers. This disparity isn't just a number—it's a reflection of constrained opportunities for millions. But there's a beacon of hope: Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). With their grassroots approach and unwavering focus on underserved areas, MFIs are poised to be the change-makers, bridging the gap and bringing financial empowerment to where it's needed most. 🌟 We, at Svatantra aim to encourage entrepreneurship where traditional banking systems cannot penetrate. We believe that nurturing foundational entrepreneurs will help transform local economies and fuel national development. 🚀 To date, Svatantra Microfin has disbursed loans to over 3.4 million borrowers across 364 districts in 19 states. Our gross loan portfolio was at ₹ 7,725 crore at the end of March 2024. 📈 Let's work towards a future where every corner of our country has equal access to the financial tools they need to thrive. ✨ #UrbanvsRural #CreditDistribution #SvatantraMicroFin #Svatantra
