GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BOARD
GASB is an independent, private-sector organization based in Norwalk, Connecticut, responsible for developing financial accounting and reporting standards for state and local governments that adhere to GAAP. The GASB develops and issues financial accounting standards through a transparent and inclusive process that aims to facilitate financial reporting that provides useful information to taxpayers, public officials, investors, and others who rely on financial reports. The GASB consists of seven members appointed by the Financial Accounting Foundation's Board of Trustees.
