HAMPSHIRE COLLEGE
At Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, students will get a respected and rigorous education that uses an alternative, progressive curriculum designed to meet studentโs individual interests and talents. Majors at Hampshire are designed by the students and could include any combination of subject areas. Some of the subjects available for study at Hampshire include: *Animation and Digital Arts *Film *Health/Pre-Medical Studies *Marine Science *Religion *Social Change *Theatre Since Ha... mpshire is a part of a five-college system, students may also take courses at one of the four other schools in the system, including Amherst College and University of Massachusetts. At the conclusion of each course, students receive evaluations instead of grades. Outside projects are also a substantial part of the curriculum, with portfolios of work supplementing tests and exams. In addition to grades, admissions officers take each studentโs extracurricular involvement and personal dedication to learning into account. SAT scores are optional, but more than 85% of students do submit them. Financial aid is awarded when students and their families have a verifiable financial need. Aid awards include grants, loans and work-study.
