The Iceni Seedcorn Fund was created to help commercialise innovation and technology development derived from the Fund’s Partner Institutes. Iceni was established in August 2002 with a £3m award from the DTi’s University Challenge Fund competition, run by the Government’s Office of Science and Technology. Together with contributions from the Partner institutions and HSBC Bank, the Fund had a total value of £4m. The Fund may invest from £5k - £500k per project, dependent on need. Iceni is an evergreen fund and the proceeds from successful investments are reinvested in new propositions.
