INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Considering its academic emphasis, the Institute of Design and Construction couldn’t be in a better location. What better place to study architecture or construction than New York City? Student life at IDC offers direct access to some of the most impressively designed buildings in the country, not to mention the endless entertainment opportunities of downtown Brooklyn. A two-year school, the Institute of Design and Construction offers associate’s degree programs in Architectural Technology ... and Building Construction Technology. You can pursue these programs part-time or full-time, taking classes during the day or evening. IDC’s academics also include continuing education courses and preparation for the ARE and LEED exams. These courses are typically just one or two sessions long, with the exception of the ARE Prep, which is more extended. While the Institute of Design and Construction does not directly fund scholarships, federal financial aid programs are available. Grants funded by the state of New York are also a good source for tuition assistance. The main admissions requirement at IDC is a high school diploma or GED. If you have not graduated from high school, you may still enroll at the institute, but only as a non-degree student.
