Irving Place Capital is a private equity firm focused on making equity investments in middle-market companies. Its origins date back to 1997 when founder John Howard established Bear Stearns Merchant Banking (โBSMBโ). In 2008, the team spun out of JPMorgan to become an independent firm known as Irving Place Capital. Since its founding, the firm has invested in over 60 portfolio companies, primarily in the retail and consumer, industrial, and packaging sectors.
