Karaikal is an SPV promoted by Chennai based Marg Limited. It owns a port that has been developed about 320km south of Chennai on the eastern cost of India under a 30 year BOT concession. Located along the East Coast of India and with rich access to major industrial markets, Karaikal Port was built aligning with India’s developmental projects in the maritime sector. Spreading across more than 600 acres of area, the Port has excellent evacuation facilities with 3 railway sidings and National Highways within a Kilometer from Port premise. The Port has envisaged its development in 3 phases with ultimate cargo handling capacity of 100 MMTPA and currently has state of the art infrastructure facilities such as mechanized cargo handling facility, covered warehousing, open storage plot, Mobile Harbour Cranes, etc. It serves as a congestion-free port through advanced cargo handling equipment, sufficient and damage free warehousing facilities, faster turnaround of vessels and smooth evacuation of cargo with competitive in-house logistics support. The port is striving to achieve e-port model which will encourage paper-free transactions through single window.
