LAC COURTE OREILLES OJIBWA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College (LCOOCC) is a community college designed for the Native American population. Academics are designed for career preparation and include internships. As part of its commitment to the tribal community, Lac Courte integrates tribal culture into all aspects of the college experience. Located in Hayward, Wisconsin, Lac Courte grants associateโs degrees in such fields as: * Early Childhood Education * Hospitality and Customer Service * Human Serv... ices * Medical Assisting * Nursing * Web Development Students in all disciplines also learn their Native language and history. Another way that Lac Courte immerses students in their culture is by sponsoring the Elder-in-Residence program, bringing senior Natives to the community to impart their wisdom and knowledge. Student life is also designed to nurture Native culture and includes: * American Indian Science and Engineering Society * Makwa Drama Club * Menโs Talking Circle To best serve its students, Lac Courte has a no-loan policy, only awarding types of financial aid that do not need to be paid back, such as state grants and scholarships.
