Le Chêne French Cuisine is a popular “destination” restaurant on Sierra Highway near Agua Dulce. 'Le Chêne', which means "the oak" in French, has been serving fine food and wine to customers for over 30 years. The oak trees in this area are known to be beautiful, centennial trees. Since 1917, businesses at this location have been named after these magnificent oak trees. 87 years have passed since the historic stone building where the Le Chêne restaurant is today was built. This site was i... nitially developed by the Dodrill family in the early twentieth century. The birth of William Arch Dodrill took place in Stevens Creek, Lancaster County, Nebraska, in 1888. His grandparents settled in Virginia after emigrating from England. During the Revolutionary War, his grandfather was captured, escaped, and changed his name from Dodridge to Dodrill so he could remain in America.
