LightPro aims to reduce the excess carbon emissions produced by Lighting by providing an online platform connecting lighting professionals with clients looking for cost effective solutions. LightPro is a start-up web application designed to connect lighting professionals with clients and uses an e-lancing business model. The Company is domiciled in Melbourne but will be available to users globally through the internet. The Company will connect lighting industry professionals with jobs on an E... -lancing platform. The lighting industry globally is growing at an exponential rate with new technologies coming online such as LED, Biological and Intelligent Lighting, and the requirement for accessible lighting solutions is growing along with it. The lighting industry currently consists of specialized professional lighting firms which charge a premium for services due to the costs of tangible overheads and the perceived market value of services, and these are often out of reach to general consumers, or heavily biased into selling their own products. LightPro provides a platform for the general public to post jobs and select contractors based on an open bidding process. LightPro holds the project payments in escrow and upon completion of the project takes a 10% commission as its operating revenue. The unique factor is that LightPro will specifically target the lighting industry and build an online community around the website. It will offer specific lighting related content to attract the entire industry including manufacturers, resellers, designers and software vendors. Currently there is no major online community for the lighting industry, and it is the vision of the managing partners to establish one that will be beneficial to all stakeholders. Lighting currently accounts for 19% of electricity consumption worldwide, and 6% of CO2 emissions. The total global potential for energy savings in the lighting industry from using more efficient technologies and designs could potentially deliver a saving of up to 15% of the global energy usage, which correlates to a saving 5% of the global CO2 emissions.
