As a kid, I used maps the way most people use Wikipedia today—visually exploring the Mediterranean, digging into the history of Rome then branching off to learn about other a... ncient civilizations. Just with Encyclopedia Brittanica instead of a web browser. So what's your story? WHY MAPHAZARDLY? I started MapHazardly in 2012 because I believe maps tell our stories. Stories of our collective history, ideals and daily lives. They also make interesting and attractive works of art, combining technical and aesthetic elements. ABOUT CHRISTOPHER ESTES I live in Portland, OR, and graduated from Portland State University where I completed my bachelor's degree in political science, and received master's certificates in sustainability and geographic information systems (GIS).
