For students looking to become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, not many options exist. Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia Inc. (MTSA) is one of the only schools of its kind that specifically trains nursing students to become CRNAs while teaching in a Christian, Seventh-day Adventist environment. Admissions require that students hold a baccalaureate degree in Nursing or a related field, have held a cumulative GPA of 3.0, are ACLS Certified, have completed the GRE, have a minimum of o... ne year’s experience in adult acute care and a submit FBI background report. Several other academic requirements must be met as well, so contact the school to make sure that you have completed the necessary coursework. Academic work will specifically train you to become a CRNA, by teaching a spiritual, “wholistic” approach to nursing in a variety of health-care settings. While tuition is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students, MTSA recognizes that educational expenses can be troublesome. Therefore, financial aid can be pursued in the form of federal Stafford loans, Grad Plus and alternative loans. Opportunities for military assistance also are available. To begin the financial aid process, MTSA suggests completing a FAFSA. Located in Madison, Tennessee, and just 13 miles from downtown Nashville, MTSA’s campus and location allow for an active and exciting student life.
