The company is led by founder Aleksander Helmersberg. In December 2011, the daughter had Milla, who was born with Down syndrome. Milla was born with delayed verbal speech and her parents were told early on that they had to learn to communicate using signs. We were introduced to Norwegian sign language, and Tegn Til Tale. The challenges came one after the other, but the biggest challenge was to make sure that everyone around her understood her signs and that everyone used signs back in their communication with her, says the entrepreneur. Helmersberg quickly discovered when learning signs presented challenges. Much of the material was paper-based and old-fashioned, which neither engaged nor provided a good learning situation.
