Multiplayer.it in an Italian is video gaming website that provides reviews, previews, downloads, and many other information about games and videogame industry news. The site was launched on 1999 and, as confirmed by statistical data on unique users, is the most important italian on-line magazine targeted exclusively on video game titles. HISTORY The website Multiplayer.it has been initially launched on February 1999 as an amateur project; one year after NetAddiction s.r.l., owner of Multipl... ayer.it brand, was started up. At the beginning the editorial staff was mainly devoted to PC games, but after the acquisition of Alternative Reality community (April 2002), it had the opportunity to deal also with console games issues; moreover, it takes part in the Futureshow of Bologna, in the Smau of Milan and it become the official partner of London ECTS (Electronic Consumer Trade Show). Multiplayer.it also takes part in the E3 of Los Angeles as official partner. As it reaches 100.000 forum and website members in 2003, the website starts to offer pay services (Premium Gold), an e-commerce focused on video games, dvd and analogous stuff, and an Official Strategy Guides line, based on Prima Games and Brady Games copyright. In 2004 Multiplayer.it opens a digital delivery pay tool to download games, and in 2005 the staff takes part in important conventions as the E3 of Los Angeles, the Tokyo Game Show and the Game Developers Conference of San Francisco. CONTENTS Multiplayer.it offers articles focused on PC and console video games, with daily news, previews, interviews, reviews, specials, charts and video games and hardware selling data (Nielsen data); users are allowed to be part of the community by commenting on any article and by writing on a forum. In June 2006 the website opened an own video channel, with self-produced broadcasts, travel diaries of video games fairs and special video broadcasts. At the end of 2008 the video live channel has been powered, with three live sessions at week.
