NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF
National Association of the Deaf is a non-profit civil rights organization for the deaf and individuals with hearing difficulties in the United States. The organization was shaped by deaf leaders who believed in the rights of the American deaf community to use sign language, congregate on issues important to them, and have its interests represented at the national level. It also carries out its federal advocacy work through coalition efforts with specialized national deaf and hard-of-hearing organizations as well as coalitions representing national cross-disability organizations. National Association of the Deaf was founded in 1880 and is based in Silver Spring, Maryland.
