National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is an agency of the Executive Branch of the U.S. government, part of the Department of Transportation. It works daily to help prevent crashes and their attendant costs, both human and financial. Established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970, NHTSA is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of excellence in motor vehicle and highway safety.
