Located in Chanute, Kansas, Neosho County Community College makes it clear that it is not just a stopping-off point on the way to a four-year school. While transferring is certainly an option at Neosho, the school is structured so that students may enroll in programs leading to promising careers and also comfortably enjoy their time there. Programs of study at Neosho include degrees and diplomas training students for careers in Aviation Science, Business Administration, Personal Training, Medic... al Assisting, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistance, Construction and Welding. Neosho also offers transfer degree programs in such subject areas as Biology, Education, Engineering, History, Marketing, Music, Psychology, and Theatre among others. Regardless of which program or pathway is chosen, each Neosho student has enough at his or her disposal to make the time spent there rewarding and enjoyable. Unlike many community colleges, Neosho offers student housing in comfortable residence halls, which have high-speed internet access, lounge and recreation areas, and other amenities. The Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence (CAVE) provides free tutoring, adult basic education classes in math, reading and writing, workshops on stress management, career advising, personal counseling, and many other services. Disabled students benefit from these and additional supports including computer-assisted instruction, access to adaptive equipment, note takers, alternative testing and one-on-one guidance counseling. Neosho’s student union houses all of the recreational activities: computers, free WiFi, a café, bookstore, lounge area and game room can all be found here. Extracurricular options include sports teams and student organizations. Clubs include an art club, a knitting organization, a literature and film club, a student nursing association, a theatre performance organization, a debate society, and a national technical honor society.
